About this role
Role Overview As our Senior Radar Firmware Engineer, you own the firmware that runs the radar signal chain on our sensor nodes. You implement waveform control and signal processing algorithms bare metal on an NXP radar SoC driving our 77 GHz front end, verify them against measurements in the lab, and keep the chain inside its timing, memory, and power budget. You work directly with the Radar Systems Architect on algorithm design, with the embedded Linux team on the platform your firmware runs on, and with the perception team on the micro-Doppler data their classification models consume. Key Responsibilities - Implement radar signal processing algorithms bare metal on the DSP cores of our NXP radar SoC - Define and maintain the firmware architecture for the radar signal chain - Implement waveform generation, timing, and control for the 77 GHz front end - Verify algorithm behaviour against lab measurements, including the test setups needed to characterize it - Analyze and optimize runtime, memory, and power consumption on the target hardware - Produce and maintain the micro-Doppler data products the perception team's classification models are trained and run on - Work with the Radar Systems Architect to bring algorithm designs onto the target - Work with the embedded Linux team on interfaces, build integration, and firmware updates Required Qualifications - 7+ years of hands-on firmware or DSP development for embedded signal processing systems (a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field is welcome, though equivalent practical experience counts just as much) - Practical experience with radar signal processing algorithms such as detection, tracking, or clutter suppression - Experience planning and running radar measurements, and comparing the results against expected algorithm behaviour - Experience with bare-metal development on multicore SoCs: startup and memory layout, DMA, and interrupt latency - Solid C skills, plus working proficiency in at least one of C++, Rust, or DSP assembly - Experience defining firmware architecture for a shipped product, not only for prototypes - Experience with software and hardware performance analysis: profiling, timing, memory, and power on the target Nice to Have - Experience with FMCW radar and multi-channel or MIMO front ends - Experience with fixed-point implementation and numerical accuracy analysis - Experience with vendor DSP toolchains and SDKs, ideally the NXP radar SDK - Practical command of laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and vector network analyzers - Contributions to open-source signal processing or embedded projects - German language skills are beneficial but not required Ergänzende Informationen: Anforderungen an den Bewerber: Grundkenntnisse: Simulationssoftware DSP, Radaranlagen, -technik, Programmiersprache/Software MATLAB Erweiterte Kenntnisse: Softwaretechnik, Software-Engineering, Embedded Systems, Nachrichtentechnik, Kommunikationstechnik, Embedded Microcontroller, Programmiersprache C Expertenkenntnisse: Softwaredesign
