About this role

## Job summary

Are you a highly motivated individual who has experience of working with children and families and would like to be part of Evelina London Children's Hospital Team?

We have specialist funding for a winter pressures post to support delivery of Occupational Therapy across our inpatient wards.

This post holder will have the opportunity to work with patients with cardiac, neurological and orthopaedic conditions as the main cohort of patients.

There may also be the opportunity to work across PICU and other specialist areas to support the team.

### Main duties of the job

Your role will involve working in collaboration with families to set goals and provide individualised advice and early intervention as required.

You will also be working closely with the occupational therapy and wider multidisciplinary inpatient teams and you will support with providing cover across other hospital wards.

The successful applicant will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as liaison with the multi-disciplinary team and with our community colleagues in health, education and social services, is essential.

We are a friendly and supportive team with a commitment to clinical development and ensuring well being at work. You will receive regular 1:1 clinical supervision from within the paediatric occupational therapy team, further supported by the clinical lead paediatric OT and professionally managed by the Trust Head OT. In addition to formal supervision, we promote a culture of knowledge sharing and reflective practice within our inpatient team within day to day practice, weekly team meetings and a monthly professional development programme for all staff. You will have the opportunity to participate in departmental audits, service improvement, research projects or clinical networks and will be supported to do so.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

#### Essential

* Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy * HCPC Registration * Masters level or equivalent training in specialist area or evidence of significant practical experience, research or publication in specialist area.

### Experience

#### Essential

* Evidence of continuing professional development and post registration education and training. * High standard of performance in general paediatric skills. * Experience commensurate with a senior specialist paediatric occupational therapist role.

#### Desirable

* Experience of working with children with disorders of posture and movement * Experience of working in HDU or PICU settings

### Knowledge and Skills

#### Essential

* Experience of working within multi-disciplinary diagnostic and intervention services * Ability to work autonomously, acting decisively on behalf of self and others, setting own priorities. * Committed to improve the experience of children, families and carers, appreciating complexity of context, culture of diversity. * Ability to apply Clinical Governance principles to practice. * Ability to manage and recognise differences of opinion in both patient related and inter-professional settings, coping positively with inter-professional tensions/ barriers.

#### Desirable

* Knowledge of developmental care * Knowledge of common paediatric Neurological conditions
