Main responsibilities
* *Inspect trucks* to identify mechanical, electrical, and safety problems. * *Diagnose problems* using diagnostic equipment, testing tools, and visual inspections. * *Repair and replace parts* such as brakes, engines, transmissions, steering systems, suspension, and exhaust components. * *Service diesel engines* and fuel systems. * *Repair electrical systems*, including batteries, starters, alternators, wiring, and electronic controls. * *Check and repair braking systems* to ensure the truck meets safety requirements. * *Perform preventative maintenance* to reduce breakdowns and extend vehicle life. * *Road-test vehicles* after repairs to make sure they are operating properly. * *Keep maintenance records* and document repairs and parts used. * *Follow workplace and safety regulations*, including proper handling of tools, equipment, and hazardous materials. * *Communicate with drivers and supervisors* about vehicle problems and recommended repairs. * *Keep the work area and tools organized* and maintain equipment in good condition.
