Arvo is hiring a *Café Manager* for our Distillery District location, the person who keeps the espresso flowing, the toast bar humming, and the crew fired up. If you geek out over a perfect pour, thrive in the morning rush, and light up when you're building a team, keep reading.
What You'll Own
*Your People (the best part)*
* Be the go-to for your baristas and toast masters, from time-off requests and scheduling to payroll and benefits questions * Build and run training that turns new hires into confident, coffee-slinging pros (coffee knowledge, food, retail, cleaning, service standards, the works) * Sit in on interviews, run performance reviews, and help your team grow their careers * Keep the good vibes and the standards high
*The Coffee & Food Program*
* Make sure every drink and dish that leaves the pass meets (or beats) Arvo's standards * Own ordering for coffee, retail, and perishables, and keep those supplier relationships strong so we never run dry * Test and launch new recipes * Document and refine the systems that keep things running, from opening/closing checklists to prep schedules and cleaning routines
*The Business Side*
* Help set pricing for coffee, beverages, and retail * Keep an eye on the numbers: COGS, waste %, inventory age * Shape the tip-pooling model so it's fair for everyone * Stay on top of health, safety, and regulatory compliance
*Team & Community*
* Join weekly manager meetings with the Directors * Team up with leadership to pull off special events in the Distillery space * Partner across the crew on cross-training and delivering a top-tier guest experience
What You Bring
* *2+ years* as a barista in a specialty café * *6+ months* of leadership experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or similar * *Food Handler Certification* (Toronto Public Health), required * *Ontario Secondary School Diploma* (or equivalent), required * A genuine love for coffee, people, and making a space feel like _the_ neighbourhood spot
