Job Description Job DescriptionThe Fleet Mechanic will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks, specialty equipment, and various other machinery including snow plows, salters, hydraulic attachments, loaders, and skid steers. Working both indoors in a workshop and outdoors on-site, this role demands a mechanic who is highly autonomous, capable of performing complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance to ensure fleet safety and operational efficiency. Responsibilities
• Perform maintenance and repair work on heavy-duty trucks and specialty equipment • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems • Execute preventive maintenance and parts replacement to avoid equipment downtime • Perform comprehensive safety inspections and equipment testing • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and parts inventory • Manage tools and equipment required for repairs and maintenance • Conduct on-site and overnight repairs as needed, including during the winter during onsite winter breakdowns • Operate with high autonomy in decision-making and problem-solving Preferred Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance • 5+ years of experience in heavy duty truck maintenance • Technical certificate in automotive technology • Valid G license • Skilled in diesel engine repair and hydraulic systems • Proficient with diagnostic tools and electrical systems • Experience with welding and mechanical aptitude • Strong commitment to safety compliance and communication • Effective problem-solving skills
