Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Confined spaces. Work setting: Construction. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Select type of insulation required. Measure and cut insulating materials to required shape and dimensions using hand and power tools. Fit insulation around obstructions and between joists and studs. Install vapour barriers and fire-retardant materials. Brush waterproofing cement or other material over insulating materials. Estimate costs and materials. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Remove asbestos, ceramic fibres, lead and mould and urea-formaldehyde insulation materials from buildings. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Employment terms options: Early morning. Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years.
