To support operations by monitoring and assisting key rendering processes, performing sampling and documentation, and helping maintain safe, efficient plant performance across all major areas as needed.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Provides flexible coverage across Grinding Room, Meat Control, Feather Control, Raw Material Receiving, Blood System operations, sampling functions, and general sanitation as needed. Collects and analyzes hourly samples across all three systems, as well as fat, feather, and blood samples, to monitor process performance and product quality. Makes or recommends process adjustments based on sample results to maintain optimal operating conditions. Supports daily plant operations between sampling intervals, assisting in key areas to ensure systems are running efficiently. Reads, understands, and follows all Standard Work Instructions (S.W.I.) and Training within Industry (T.W.I.), utilizing Lean rules and principles. Works safely following all Simmons policies and requirements and applicable safety and environmental guidelines. Operates equipment as assigned; monitors and maintains production speeds and quality of finished product. Completes required forms and accurate documentation to track data and support real-time decision-making. Maintains a clean and uncluttered work area throughout the shift; identifies hazards and takes appropriate precautions. Performs essential position responsibilities with little or no supervision; communicate effectively with leadership and team members. Performs other related duties as directed by the shift supervisor.
Participates as a member of the team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T (Better Easier Safer Today) practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Must be able to work in a wet, noisy, dusty, humid, hot or cold environment; work on feet for an entire shift and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to walk and stand on feet for more than 10 hours per shift. Must be able to climb stairs/fixed and vertical ladders occasionally. Requires occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Use small power tools. Utilize laboratory equipment for sampling and analysis.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, safety footwear, and H2S monitor, and all other personal protection equipment as required by facility.
