About this role
Purpose of Position: Provide educational program to residents of the Residential Treatment Center as per State Education Department guidelines.
Specific Responsibilities
• Implement school policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with Federal, State and local regulations
• Instruct and monitor teachers and classroom staff on applicable classroom regulatory requirements and compliance issues
• Monitor implementation of school policies/procedures.
• Attend scheduled meetings and any meetings as directed by the Principal
• Maintain on-going communication within the program and to the RTC, as necessary
Personnel
• Interview and recommend for hiring-teachers, teacher assistants and classroom aides
• Assist in conducting orientation of staff to school and agency policies and procedures
• Write performance evaluations on teaching assistants and classroom aides with input from classroom teachers.
• Provide ongoing training and support to staff regarding behavior management and educational programming
• Provide ongoing support to educational staff
• Conduct informal classroom observations; provide feedback and recommendations to teachers and classroom staff on their performance
• Maintain oversight of staff certifications and ensure scheduled mentoring for certification, as necessary
Programming
• Instruct teachers in development of daily classroom schedule and monitor adherence to schedules
• Review Educational Evaluations to ensure thorough and descriptive depiction of students' strengths and needs in order to facilitate academic progress
• Supervise teachers, teaching assistants and classroom aides on developing and consistently implementing individualized behavior management programs and PBIS for each student
• Supervise and train crisis intervention staff. Monitor crisis intervention techniques utilized; conduct team review and provide feedback, oversee revisions of plan as appropriate to situation
• Supervise teachers in implementing functional educational programming consistent with NYS Common Core Learning Standards; ensuring lesson planning is completed and submitted in a timely manner. Periodic review of classroom program books; ensuring progress and needs toward meeting IEP goals is evident
• Assist in the development of the vocational and pre-vocational programs
• Supervise programs and the integration of lesson plans/ IEP goal objectives during specials
• Assist in programming, staffing and class recreational/educational outings during the six-week summer program
• Ensure teacher access to lesson planning materials remains current including internet and print subscriptions
• Ensure materials are accessible for daily programming, requesting order as necessary, including but not limited to; staff protective equipment, student safety and sensory equipment
Other Duties
• Oversee staffing schedule and student attendance on a daily basis
• Assist in the completion and of staff probationary and yearly evaluations
• Supervise student arrival and dismissal daily
• Maintain meeting book including sign-in sheets and minutes
• Coordinate various schedules throughout the school year, including but not limited to; multipurpose room, event transportation, class trips, RTC daily unit coverage
Qualifications
• NYS SBL certification, Master's degree, experience with population

• Work closely with all members of the Tyree Learning Center and RTC to provide comprehensive educational program to all students.
