About this role

Essential Functions:

• Direct 9-15 packaging line workers/machine operators on single production line to fill, label, and package powders into jugs, bags, boxes, and packets. Maintain scheduled production pace, up to 16,000 units per shift.

• Manage work of temporary employees assigned to specific line.

• Set job rotation schedule by line function.

• Learn and operate production auxiliary equipment (coders, induction sealers, shrink band applicators).

• Train line workers to perform different assigned positions insuring adherence to GMP and safety work requirements.

• Maintain team coordination and cooperation to quickly respond to line bottlenecks.

• Respond to and research metal detector and x-ray machine kick-offs. Inform management of discovery of any foreign materials.

• Work with team and maintenance to perform quick changeovers and to limit downtime.

• Recognize and report equipment issues.

• Complete production paperwork including GMP and HACCP sign offs and calculation of yields.

• Maintain 5S standards for line set up, tool boxes and cleaning equipment.

• Work with manager, supervisors and production team to attain team and company goals.

• Help production team continuously improve on safety, product quality, cost, and delivery by leading team huddles in RedZone data review.

• Enter RedZone data, downtime codes by asset, verify data integrity and create actions as needed.

• Comply with employee training including SOPs, HACCP, GMP, job skill, safety, and improvement oriented training.

• Clean equipment and production area as scheduled and when necessary. Participate in scheduled deep clean and sanitization of production equipment.

• Understand and comply with GHS (global harmonized system) and practice safe chemical handling.

• Inspect for product quality and integrity by verifying correctness in packaging components and finished goods.

• Accurately document and verify partial counts and lot numbers of packaging materials and pallet count of finished goods.

• Coordinate/communicate work status with Batching and Material Handling crews.

• Ensure proper collection of production retains and line samples.

• Conduct 2-8 lot changeovers per shift.

• Participate in Kaizen teams to solve problems and develop solutions for continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and methods.

• Work safely, promote employee safety by example and compliance with safety programs. Support a culture of safety and teamwork in the department and throughout the company

• Be punctual to work and maintain good attendance.

• Required to work daily overtime and weekends as business demands necessitate.

• Other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $ 22.00 per hour

Knowledge/Skills:

• Be able to listen, understand and respond well to direction.

• Be able to read and complete production documentation to insure product integrity and to report labor utilization.

• Ability to calculate yield percentages and other basic math calculations.

• Be able to properly use small hand tools.

• Maintain high level of attention to detail.

• Work well with others and contribute to a positive environment.

• Sustain a good work pace based on equipment driven speeds.

• Be self motivated.

• Be able to work a flexible schedule including daily overtime and weekends.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Prior manufacturing experience preferred.

• Previous experience in directing the work of others preferred.

Reporting Relationships:

The Packaging Line Lead I reports directly to the Packaging Supervisor and works with other Packaging Line Workers.
