About this role
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of residential heating, air conditioning, and refrigerant systems. Working under general supervision, this role installs and commissions HVAC equipment and related appliances, performs preventive maintenance, and completes basic repairs as needed during service visits.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Responsible for servicing and repairing customer heating, air conditioning and other equipment used in residential and commercial applications.
• Responsible for the installation of heating/air conditioning/refrigeration systems and related equipment and/or components (e.g. unit heaters, pumps, safety controls, valves, etc.) with the purpose of ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment.
• Responsible for communicating with the customer and where possible resolve customer problems.
• Responsible for providing technical support and coordination during the installation, servicing and repairing of equipment.
• Responsible for ensuring customer needs are satisfied in a cost-effective manner without direct supervision.
• Responsible for maintaining vehicle inventory and stock.
• Responsible for maintaining a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
• Responsible for selling and supporting Company goals with day-to-day efforts.
This is a full-time union role with a great benefits package. Hourly pay ranges from: $50.18/hr - $52.04/hour
Job Requirements:
Licenses & Certifications (Required):
• Massachusetts Journeyman Plumber/Gas Fitter License (in good standing)
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (current)
• Valid driver's license
• Holding of, or ability to gain the following RI licenses is a plus. - RI PJF Journeyperson Gas, RI PJF Journeyperson Propane, RI Journeyperson Plumber, RI Journeyperson Pipefitter 2, and/or RI Journeyperson Refrigeration 2.
Technical Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience installing residential HVAC equipment (furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air handlers, condensers, domestic hot water equipment, and related components)
• Proficiency in gas, water, hydronic, and near-boiler piping installation, including copper brazing and soldering
• Ability to fabricate miscellaneous sheet-metal transitions
• Working knowledge of residential HVAC electrical and control systems (low-voltage controls, wiring diagrams, sequence of operations, and electrical connections)
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturer instructions, mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, wiring diagrams, and applicable codes
• Competency in equipment start-up, testing, commissioning, and customer orientation
Professional Requirements:
• Ability to work independently while maintaining company standards for safety, workmanship, and customer service
• Strong communication skills with a professional appearance and attitude
• Ability to travel throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island service territories as assigned
• Ability to coordinate with Dispatch and management on work orders and recognize work requiring additional trade licensing
Education:
• High School Diploma or GED
