Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Must meet Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) requirements for Peer Recovery Coaches, including a minimum of two continuous years in recovery from addiction and experience navigating treatment, recovery, and/or prevention services.

• Must be willing and able to appropriately share lived recovery experience to support individuals receiving services.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Certified Recovery Coach preferred; candidates must obtain certification within six (6) months of hire. Relevant CCAR and/or MDHHS Peer Recovery Coach training is preferred.

• Valid Michigan driver's license required.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, active listening, organizational, and time-management skills.

• Demonstrated empathy, professionalism, and the ability to build supportive relationships with individuals in recovery.

• Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment, recovery support services, and community resources preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Provide peer recovery support to individuals through outreach, engagement, advocacy, and connection to treatment, recovery, and community-based resources.

• Use lived experience and recovery knowledge to empower individuals, promote hope, support goal setting, and encourage informed decision-making.

• Assist individuals with developing recovery goals, coping strategies, self-help techniques, and relapse prevention plans.

• Facilitate recovery-focused groups and activities that promote community inclusion, education, advocacy, and reduced stigma.

• Build and maintain relationships with community partners and promote available substance use and recovery support services.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and contribute peer perspectives to support a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed environment.

• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with program, agency, Medicaid, and regulatory requirements.

• Travel within the designated service area to provide community-based and in-home support services as needed.
