Position Summary
The Senior Estimator, Design-Build is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, and executing project estimates from early conceptual budgeting through final proposal submission. This role works closely with the Sales, Business Development, Operations, and Project Management teams to develop accurate and competitive estimates while supporting bid strategies and maximizing project profitability.
The Senior Estimator will coordinate incoming estimating opportunities, maintain project tracking within Salesforce, identify and mitigate risk throughout the design process, and help ensure successful project outcomes that align with Clark Pacific's business objectives.
Competitive Compensation Range: $110,000-$135,000 annually, depending on experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Estimating & Preconstruction
• Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with staff, projects, and proprietary information.
• Evaluate projects to determine scope and understand the level of detail required by the Business Development team.
• Support Sales with conceptual budgeting, cost analysis, and quantity takeoffs.
• Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, schedules, contract documents, proposal drawings, structural calculations, and other project information prepared by internal and external sources.
• Evaluate project construction schedules and coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment before bid submission.
• Prepare complete quantity surveys (takeoffs) for all materials included within the project scope.
• Develop material summaries and sketches required to solicit quotations and support cost estimating efforts.
• Estimate field and shop labor requirements in collaboration with relevant departments.
• Obtain labor rates, tax rates, transportation expenses, duty rates, and other cost information needed to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Solicit subcontractor quotations as necessary to complete project scope requirements.
• Coordinate distribution of plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors and vendors.
• Review vendor quotations for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.
• Manage vendor questions, clarifications, and updates throughout the bidding process.
• Prepare complete and accurate project cost estimates.
• Develop sales pricing, formal proposals, unit pricing, and required pricing breakdowns in accordance with bid requirements.
• Prepare detailed lists of inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for bid submissions.
• Review and markup contract documents as required.
Bid Strategy & Project Coordination
• Lead pre-submittal reviews with Sales and Management teams to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering (VE) items.
• Prepare final bid submittal packages for customers.
• Facilitate estimating handoff documentation to Project Management teams.
• Organize and manage estimating team resources for project pursuits.
• Maintain and update opportunity information within Salesforce.
• Support Business Development and Operations teams during scope reviews and contract negotiations.
• Conduct monthly reviews of actual job cost information with the Chief Estimator.
• Support Project Management teams with budgeting and cost analysis to minimize risk and achieve margin goals.
• Collaborate with the Chief Estimator to drive continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating department.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
