Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Leadership
• Lead/improve the production system to support active improvements in SPQDC in the paint operations. Management for Daily Improvement (MDI)
• Develop and lead initiatives to support the paint operations role in furthering the Businesses goals and objectives. Corp KPI's.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leading and mentoring the team on utilizing various CI tools to solve problems and reduce waste. (ex: Kaizen Events)
• Motivate staff members to promote engagement at all levels within the department.
Safety and Environmental Compliance
• Enforce safety protocols to protect workers and comply with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
• Actively analyze safety and environmental risks in the paint operations and develop/work plans to mitigate.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of paints, chemicals, and hazardous materials complying with all regulatory standards.
People Management/Development
• Oversee training/development, and lead paint department staff, including painters, technicians, pre-hang personnel, and material handlers to improve depth of competencies.
• Set and monitor and evaluate goals and priorities for the paint team in alignment with company goals and objectives.
Quality Assurance
• Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure consistent finishes and compliance with specifications.
• Monitor quality inspections on finished goods to ensure your team is detecting and addressing defects or inconsistencies.
• Work closely with paint and chemical suppliers to maintain process control throughout the process.
• Ensure all parts and products are painted to meet quality standards and customer specifications.
Production Management
• Coordinate work schedules and allocate resources to meet production demands. Plan and execute paint operations in alignment with manufacturing schedules.
• Optimize workflows to maximize efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Work to improve part densities and throughput to increase capacities of the paint system.
• Manage paint line tooling to ensure adequate inventories are available and tooling is in good repair to insure safe and efficient operation.
• Review current and future demand / forecasts to ensure adequate paint capacities will be available to meet the needs of the organization.
• Work closely with Human Resources, Supply Chain and Finance to recommend adding staff, equipment or farm out opportunities when extra capacity is needed.
• Oversee department 6S standards to ensure you have a safe and efficient work environment.
Inventory and Cost Control
• Monitor inventory levels of paint materials, coatings, and supplies to avoid shortages or overstocking.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of paint booths, sprayers, and related equipment to ensure reliable operation to optimize equipment uptime.
• Evaluate and recommend new tools or technologies to enhance productivity.
• Manage budgets, optimize material usage, and minimize waste.
• Approve/Monitor spending.
