About this role
Pay.com is looking to hire an Underwriting Specialist to join our dynamic team in Limassol (Hybrid). The successful candidate will report to the Underwriting Team Lead and will assist Pay.com in onboarding new merchants for acquiring services, ensuring each is evaluated in line with regulatory and Card Scheme standards.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the Sales and other internal teams to collect, review and provide feedback on merchant onboarding documentation and requirements
• Access company registries across various jurisdictions to obtain corporate documentation for prospective merchants and determine their corporate structure
• Review and resolve flags raised by screening and verification checks performed during onboarding
• Perform website reviews to assess the merchant's business model and identify any prohibited or high-risk activity, ensuring compliance with Card Scheme rules and AML requirements
• Perform risk analysis on prospective merchants (e.g. financial standing, processing history, rolling reserve) to assess their overall risk level
• Review findings raised during onboarding (AML, Risk, Fraud or other flags), document the outcome in accordance with the department's manual, and escalate to the Underwriting Team Lead or the second line of defence (Risk/Compliance) where required
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of merchant documentation and onboarding status throughout the process
• Proactively identify areas for improvement in existing systems, tools and processes, and suggest practical solutions
• Assist with department projects and initiatives as needed
What you'll bring
• 1-3 years of experience in a similar role within a regulated financial institution
• Proven experience onboarding corporate legal entities
• AML certifications, Card Scheme rules knowledge, or experience with KYC/AML screening tools is considered an advantage
• Fluent or native-level English, both written and spoken
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
