About this role

Location: Hatfield, PA – North Plant Shift: 3rd Shift | Sunday–Thursday, 9:00 PM–6:00 AM Work Arrangement: On-site

The Opportunity

Lead a multidisciplinary maintenance team supporting a highly automated food manufacturing operation. This is a leadership-first maintenance role where you'll direct maintenance and electronic trades, establish priorities, improve preventive maintenance execution, and keep equipment ready for production.

You won't be expected to personally make every repair. Your job is to lead the work, develop the team, and improve how maintenance gets done.

What Your Shift Looks Like

Third shift provides significant access to equipment while production is down. Much of your team's work is planned rather than continuous emergency response.

You'll:

• Assign and drive completion of scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance.

• Coordinate troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, automation, and controls issues.

• Lead equipment shutdown, disassembly, reassembly, and production startup support.

• Use CMMS data and maintenance KPIs to manage labor utilization, PM compliance, work orders, and equipment performance.

• Coach and develop a team of approximately 10 mechanics and electrical/controls trades.

• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Sanitation, FSQA, and other maintenance leaders.

• Maintain high standards for safety, quality, food safety, and work execution.

Equipment & Skills You'll Use

Industrial maintenance | Mechanical systems | Electrical troubleshooting | PLCs/HMIs | VFDs & motor controls | Instrumentation | Automation & controls | Preventive maintenance | CMMS | Equipment reliability

You need enough technical breadth to effectively lead multiple trades—but you do not need to be the most advanced technician in every discipline.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you'll be working toward:

• Labor utilization consistently above 80%

• PM work-order compliance at or above 90%

• Improved schedule compliance and reduced maintenance-related downtime

• Skill matrices and active development plans for all direct reports

• A safer, more accountable, increasingly self-sufficient maintenance team

You'll Be a Strong Fit If You Have

• Approximately 5+ years of industrial/manufacturing leadership experience

• Experience leading or directing multidisciplinary maintenance work

• Experience with preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance in an automated manufacturing environment

• Working knowledge across mechanical, electrical, automation, and controls systems

• Experience using a CMMS and maintenance KPIs to manage work execution and performance

• A track record of establishing priorities, accountability, and strong communication across teams

Food manufacturing experience is not required. Experience from other established, highly automated manufacturing environments can translate well. SAP experience, familiarity with our specific equipment/control platforms, and formal education are also not required when you demonstrate equivalent technical and leadership experience.

What You Should Know

This is a 3rd-shift role in a cold, wet food-manufacturing environment. You'll inherit skill gaps and inconsistent work-execution discipline while helping move the team from reactive maintenance toward stronger planned and preventive work.

You'll have a structured onboarding period across shifts before transitioning fully to third shift, giving you time to learn the operation, establish relationships, and understand the team.
