About this role

Salary: £45,600 - 45,600 per year

Requirements: Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN design, TCP/IP stack, VLANs, VPNs (IPsec & SSL), and DNS/DHCP management.Proficiency with network security practices such as firewall configuration (Cisco ASA), SSO integration, LDAP/Active Directory management, PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), encryption techniques, and network monitoring tools.Hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment including routers and switches, and Cisco ISE for policy management; familiarity with Juniper devices is a plus.Strong understanding of telecommunication systems including VoIP protocols (SIP) and QoS configurations for voice traffic prioritization.Ability to implement virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or Citrix; experience with SAN storage solutions for high availability storage architectures.Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation; experience with Ansible or similar configuration management tools is desirable.Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS for hybrid cloud networking; understanding of network security in cloud environments is essential.Experience working with network management and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Splunk.Knowledge of operating systems including Windows, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS), Solaris, and openSUSE.Experience with ITIL standards for service management is desirable. Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and manage complex network architectures including LAN, WAN, VPN, and SD-WAN solutions to ensure reliable connectivity across all sites.Configure and maintain network security devices such as firewalls (Cisco ASA, Juniper) and IDS, and implement encryption protocols like IPsec and SSL/TLS for secure data transmission.Support and troubleshoot network infrastructure components including Cisco routers, switches, Cisco ISE, DNS, DHCP, and load balancers to optimize performance.Monitor network health using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, and Splunk, and implement high availability solutions to minimize downtime.Manage network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, TCP/IP, MPLS, and routing protocols to ensure efficient data routing across multiple platforms including cloud environments like Azure and AWS.Conduct system administration tasks on operating systems including Windows, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS), Solaris, and openSUSE.Automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash scripting, Ansible, or other DevOps tools.Oversee network installation projects from planning through deployment while ensuring compliance with ITIL standards for service management.
