About this role

Café Sweet Surrender is a non-profit café who donates to charities - and primarily run by volunteers. You can support by helping in the kitchen. Most people would say that Café Sweet Surrender is a children friendly, non-profit café that wants to give all its visitors a break from the turmoil of everyday life by serving high-standard coffee and tea, affordable and proper meal and a warm smile. But we are also a group of warm-hearted volunteers from all parts of the world, that work together to make the café the biggest hit possible. Because 70% of profit made and all our tips are sent directly to a worthy cause. Thankfully this common goal also makes us good friends and a happy bunch to be with at the same time. The cafe is operated solely by volunteers and one full-time employee. On sweetsurrender.dk you can read about the various initiatives currently launched. Purpose - To support the café by providing quality food for the customers of the café. Assignments - The kitchen is run like a typical restaurant kitchen. Working in the kitchen requires that you have some basic knowledge in food preparation. We follow the chef’s directions on how to make sandwiches and the daily meals. The tasks include simple food preparation and arranging the meals on the plate in an appealing way. Also, one must do the dishes and clean the kitchen area according to the hygiene standards. Difference - By making quality food you will help support the projects of the café. Also, you will be helping to provide quality and healthy food for others. Community- There is a strong partnership and family feeling that is among all of the volunteers of the café. You will be accepted as one of the family, while also helping to provide that feeling to the customers. Training - All training is done on the job. You will be taught all the basics during your first shifts. Frequency - We ask our volunteers to work 2 shifts a month. Qualifications - You have a citizenship (DK, EU, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland) or residence permit that gives the right to volunteer work. It is an advantage to have experience from working in a restaurant or café.
