Payroll Manager – Hybrid AZ
Job Purpose Join our Accounting & Finance team as Payroll Manager, responsible for leading and overseeing all payroll operations for U.S. and Canadian employees, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing. This role manages payroll administration, payroll tax compliance, payroll systems, vendor relationships, and payroll-related reporting while maintaining strong internal controls and exceptional customer service. The Payroll Manager partners closely with Human Resources, Technology, and external service providers to support organizational objectives and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
• Payroll Operations and Administration: • Manage the accurate and timely processing of U.S. and Canadian payrolls in accordance with company policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state, provincial, and local regulations. • Review and approve payroll transactions, audits, reconciliations and payroll-related adjustments. • Ensure accurate processing of earnings, deductions, benefits, garnishments, taxable benefits, and other payroll-related items. • to ad hoc payroll, reporting, compliance, and operational requests, providing timely and accurate support to management and business stakeholders.
• Payroll Tax and Regulatory Compliance: • Ensures compliance with all applicable payroll tax laws and regulatory requirements in the U.S. and Canada. • Oversee payroll tax filings, remittances, year-end reporting, and related reconciliations, including Forms W-2, T-4, and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Payroll Systems and Technology: • Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for payroll and timekeeping system, including Workday and Dayforce and related applications. • Oversee payroll-related interfaces and integrations between payroll, Human Resources, benefits, and third-party systems. • Lead testing efforts for system upgrades, enhancements, patches, and new implementations affecting payroll processes.
• Vendor and Business Partner Management: • Coordinate with third-party vendors to maintain payroll system functionality, resolve issues, implement enhancements, and support compliance updates. • Build strong partnerships across Human Resources, Accounting & Finance, Technology, and external service providers to support organizational objectives and deliver effective payroll solutions.
• Employee and Customer Support: • Foster a customer-focused culture that delivers responsive and professional support to employees, managers, and business partners. • Develop a high-performing payroll team by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Preferred Experience and Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. • Minimum of 7 years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities. • Demonstrated experience managing multi-state U.S. and Canadian payroll operations. • Experience with full-cycle payroll, including payroll tax compliance, reporting, audit support, to include utilizing payroll service providers and other third-party vendors. • Experience with Workday Payroll and Time Tracking preferred. • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

Work Location and Schedule
• This is a hybrid position, currently requiring onsite presence three days per week, with the option to work remotely up to two days per week. This hybrid model fosters intentional collaboration, teamwork, connection, and productivity, while still supporting flexibility and work life balance. The office address is 6201 N 24th Parkway, Phoenix, Arizona 85016. • Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm (Arizona Time).
