About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Remote Clinical Admin GP to join the team at Pendleton Medical Centre.

This is an initial three-month fixed-term position, with the intention of offering a permanent role to the right candidate following a successful review period.

The role comprises three sessions per week:

Wednesday one sessionThursday one sessionFriday one sessionThe timing of each session is flexible and can be agreed with the successful candidate, provided the work is completed during our core opening hours of 8:00am to 6:30pm.

The role will primarily be undertaken remotely using EMIS Web and Docman.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the practice with its clinical administrative workload, including:

Reviewing and actioning pathology and radiology resultsProcessing clinical correspondence and Docman documentsTaking any necessary clinical actions arising from results or correspondenceReviewing and issuing electronic prescriptions through EPSCompleting appropriate medication and clinical reviewsCommunicating with patients where clinical follow-up is requiredArranging referrals, investigations and follow-up in accordance with practice protocolsMaintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical recordsEscalating urgent or complex clinical matters appropriatelyApplicants must be confident working independently and safely within an established clinical governance framework. Previous experience using EMIS Web and Docman is essential.

Pendleton Medical Centre is a progressive and fast growing GP practice based in Salford, with approximately 9,500 registered patients.

We have a broad multidisciplinary team comprising GPs, Advanced Practitioners, practice nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists and an experienced administrative and reception team.

We are committed to providing accessible, high-quality patient care and making effective use of our wider clinical team. The successful candidate will receive support from the practices clinical and management teams and will work within established systems and protocols.

Although this is predominantly a remote clinical administration role, the postholder will remain an integrated member of the practice team.

The Clinical Admin GP will be responsible for:

Processing laboratory and diagnostic results safely and within agreed timescalesReviewing incoming clinical correspondence and completing all necessary actionsIssuing and reviewing prescriptions in accordance with practice prescribing protocolsIdentifying results or correspondence requiring urgent clinical interventionContacting patients or delegating follow-up actions where appropriateCoding relevant information accurately within the patient recordMaking referrals and arranging investigations when clinically indicatedProviding clear advice and instructions to the wider practice teamWorking in accordance with GMC guidance, practice policies and relevant clinical governance requirementsMaintaining patient confidentiality and information governance standardsParticipating in appropriate clinical review, audit or feedback arrangements

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Qualified General Practitioner MRCGP, Certificate of Completion of Training or equivalent recognised qualification Full GMC registration with a licence to practise Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience Essential

Recent experience working in UK general practice Experience of reviewing pathology and radiology results Experience of processing clinical correspondence Experience of prescribing and medication review Competence using EMIS Web and Docman Ability to work safely and independently in a remote setting

Sound clinical judgement Strong attention to detail Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritise clinical risk and workload Reliable and able to complete work within agreed timescales Able to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative colleagues Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care
