Orthopaedic Outpatients is a busy and dynamic service specialising in the assessment, investigation, treatment and ongoing management of patients with elective spinal and orthopaedic conditions across a range of subspecialties.

Patients are typically referred from primary care and receive timely access to expert multidisciplinary care. Our service is designed around a "one-stop" approach wherever possible, enabling patients to undergo diagnostic investigations, consultant review and physiotherapy assessment during the same visit, reducing the need for multiple appointments and improving the patient experience.
The department includes a dedicated treatment room that supports a wide range of clinical activities, including postoperative wound assessment and dressing management, venepuncture, pre-operative preparation and surgical listing. As a large proportion of our patients progress to surgical intervention, the team provides extensive postoperative care and follow-up, ensuring high standards of wound management and recovery support.
We work closely with the Tissue Viability Service and other multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care. In addition, the department runs nurse-led dressing clinics to provide responsive care and support for patients throughout their treatment journey.
Unfortunately, this position is not suitable for newly qualified nurses. Applicants must have previous post-registration experience, ideally within a ward environment.
Due to the size and skill mix of the team, we are currently unable to provide the level of support and preceptorship required for newly qualified nurses. We therefore welcome applications from experienced registered nurses who are able to work independently.
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 0800-1800.
