About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Staff Nurse to join Springwood Ward, Woodview. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mental health nurse to develop leadership experience while supporting high-quality, recovery-focused care in an acute inpatient setting.

You will play a key role in clinical leadership on the ward, supporting junior staff, coordinating shifts, and ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care for service users experiencing acute mental health needs.

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical leadership and act as a role model for best practice Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in an acute mental health setting Support and supervise junior nursing staff and students Coordinate shifts and contribute to effective ward management Undertake risk assessments and care planning Completing 5 P formulations to formulate a plan of care and discharge plan Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team Promote safeguarding, safety, and recovery-focused practice

Qualifications Essential

Registered Mental Health Nurse qualification Post graduate qualification or experience Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development

Knowledge Essential

Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures Knowledge and practice of Mental Health Act 1983 Knowledge and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Knowledge of common mental health problems and medication used in relation to these

Experience Essential

Supervision and management of staff Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team Experience of assessing, planning and implementing and reviewing care needs Experience of interacting therapeutically with distress and /or disturbed individuals

Personal Essential

Ability to undertake effective aggression management including the use of physical restraint Ability to undertake effective aggression management including the use of physical restraint Can demonstrate communication skills through practice and experience
