About this role

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the developing Pharmacy Clinical Trials team at Glan Clwyd Hospital, supporting a growing and increasingly complex research portfolio. Based within a progressive and collaborative service, you will work closely with senior pharmacists to deliver high-quality clinical trials pharmacy services across a range of specialties, including oncology and haematology within the North Wales Cancer Centre.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to build specialist expertise in clinical trials while contributing to innovative patient care. You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary environment, working alongside clinicians, research teams, and pharmacy colleagues to ensure safe and effective delivery of investigational treatments.

As part of a newly established team, you will also have opportunities to contribute to service development, research activity, and education, making this an ideal role for a pharmacist looking to expand their clinical and research experience.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

You will support the delivery of a specialist clinical trials pharmacy service, contributing to the safe and effective management of investigational medicinal products (IMPs) in accordance with regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practice. This will include assisting in the review of clinical trial protocols, supporting study set-up, and participating in the dispensing, supply, and monitoring of trial medicines. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide pharmaceutical advice, support patient care, and ensure accurate documentation and accountability of trial activity.

The successful candidate will demonstrate good clinical knowledge, strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise workload within a busy and evolving environment. You will have effective communication skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. A commitment to professional development, patient safety, and continuous improvement is essential, and you will be supported to develop further clinical and research skills within this specialist area.

Please note that this post includes participation in a weekend and public holiday rota to support the wider Pharmacy service.
