Are you an experienced nurse or paramedic looking to develop advanced clinical skills and move towards autonomous urgent care practice? Local Care Direct is offering two fully funded opportunities to join our Urgent Treatment Centre team as a Trainee Emergency Practitioner specialising in minor injuries.

The role combines postgraduate education, structured clinical supervision and hands-on UTC experience. Successful applicants will complete the Level 7 Managing Minor Injuries Programme at the University of Huddersfield alongside Local Care Directs Minor Injuries Competency Framework, with support from experienced clinicians and the Clinical Education Team.

You will develop competence in:

Assessment and management of adult and paediatric minor injuries. Advanced history taking, clinical examination and decision-making. Risk management, diagnostics within scope, referral, discharge planning and safety netting. Clinical documentation, governance and safe supervised practice.

Applicants must:

Be a Registered Nurse (NMC) or Registered Paramedic (HCPC). Hold an Honours Degree (minimum 2:2) or an equivalent professional qualification appropriate to the proposed programme of study. Have a minimum of three years post-registration clinical experience. Have experience within urgent care, emergency care, ambulance services, emergency departments or similar settings. Demonstrate ongoing professional development. Be committed to postgraduate study and successful completion of the training programme. Be able to travel between Local Care Direct sites as required.
