Fitzrovia Medical Centre is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and proactive Health Care Assistant (HCA)to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HCA who is passionate about improving patient outcomes and supporting the health and wellbeing of our local community.
The successful candidate will join our team, working alongside another experienced HCA.They will work closely with our GPs, nurses, pharmacists and wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care while supporting the smooth running of the practice. The role includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities, with a strong focus on patient-centred care, prevention and health promotion
Main duties of the job
Undertake delegated clinical duties including: Phlebotomy. CRM Health Checks. Diabetic Health Checks. Mental Health Checks. NHS Health Checks. ECG recordings. Blood pressure monitoring. Height, weight and BMI measurements. Ensure clinical rooms remain fully stocked, clean and organised. Maintain infection prevention and control standards at all times. Accurately document consultations and clinical activity within SystmOne. Escalate any abnormal findings or safeguarding concerns appropriately. Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care in accordance with policies, local protocols and NHS standards. Maintain confidentiality and comply with information governance policies. Contribute to service improvement and support the wider multidisciplinary team.

Assist with patient care navigation and signposting to appropriate services. Proactively support patients to improve their health and wellbeing within the community. Maintain and manage stock levels, ensuring clinical rooms are fully stocked and organised. Monitor vaccine and clinical stock supplies and support cold-chain processes where required. Ensure accurate clinical coding and documentation within SystmOne. Promote health education and preventative healthcare initiatives. Support the nursing and clinical team with infection prevention and control procedures. Maintain infection prevention and control standards at all times. Escalate any abnormal findings or safeguarding concerns appropriately. Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care in accordance with policies, local protocols and NHS standards. Maintain confidentiality and comply with information governance policies. Contribute to service improvement and support the wider multidisciplinary team.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Care Certificate. Accredited Phlebotomy qualification. Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant within General Practice or Primary Care. Experience independently managing HCA clinics. Excellent knowledge of SystmOne. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team. Good understanding of safeguarding, infection prevention and confidentiality.
Desirable
Experience undertaking CRM Health Checks. Experience in wound care and dressings
Qualifications Essential
Care Certficate GCSE in English minimum = Grade C or equivalent Phlebotomy
