About this role

Job summary

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse - Fixed Catheter Lab who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Cardiac Suite at East and North Hertfordshire NHS trust, is currently looking for a dynamic and motivated registered nurse to join our progressive cardiology team. The area provides 24/7 primary angioplasty service and is continuously expanding and developing the service provided, to ensure high quality patient care.The department has developed a continuing education program, to achieve the required competencies to work effectively in the day to day provision of acute cardiology services including on call cover for primary PCI.

The ideal candidate will provide excellent time management and nursing care to patients with the designated ward/department when on duty, and complete competencies regarding clinics and emergency procedures in order to carry out delivery of care to a complex group of patients.

Main duties of the job

Assist the cardiologist in diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Act as a scrub nurse during procedures, on a rotational basis.

In conjunction with the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse, to be responsible for delivery and evaluation of nursing care for patients within the department.

To ensure the effective maintenance of paper and integrated electronic communication systems to enhance clinical practice.

To oversee the ordering, stock levels and security of drugs kept in the department as per Trust protocol.

Actively participate in emergency cover for the department and to participate in our 24/7 oncall PPCI service.

Person Specification

Qualifications / Training Essential

Registered nurse on part 1 or 12 of the NMC register Appropriate post registration course or relevant experience Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable

ILS provider

Previous Experience Essential

Extensive post registration experience

Desirable

Understanding of the patient pathway including national waiting targets Previous experience within a cardiac catheter lab setting Experience of non-invasive cardiology tests

Skills Essential

Excellent organisation and time management skills and an ability to priorities own workload and that of others Excellent communication skills Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.

Desirable

Computer literate and presentation skills Understanding of research and audit and a willingness to participate in these within the department

Knowledge Essential

Broad knowledge of cardiology and the management of cardiac conditions, with an understanding of ECGs
