Compensation and Benefits The expected base salary range for this position, when hired into our Toronto location, is CAD $132,750 – $162,250 per year. For positions based in other jurisdictions, compensation will be determined in alignment with local regulations, market benchmarks, and internal compensation frameworks. The above range reflects the typical base salary range for candidates hired into this position. The actual salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including job location, experience, qualifications, education/training, skills, market conditions, and alignment with the role’s requirements. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in our annual incentive program, payment under which is at the discretion of PartnerRe and subject to individual and company performance. Job Description Manager, Canada Assumption Development is responsible for leading the development of mortality and lapse assumptions supporting new business and inforce business for the Canadian life reinsurance market, operating within North America Life (NAL) governance frameworks. Lead the maintenance of Canadian mortality and lapse benchmarks used across new business and inforce analyses, aligned with NAL and global standards. Ensure benchmark assumptions appropriately reflect Canadian experience, underwriting practices, and market dynamics, while maintaining consistency with broader NA Life methodologies. Develop, document, and maintain best practices for setting assumptions relevant to the Canadian market, including but not limited to NAR, post‑level shock lapse and mortality deterioration, conversions, and other behaviorally driven assumptions. Support data acquisition strategy efforts relevant to assumption development to further the internal inventory available for relevant research while complying with internal policies on data and IT requirements. Support development of mortality analytics methodologies and data infrastructure to enable consistent, transparent, and reusable risk insights across pricing, underwriting, and enterprise stakeholders. Provide guidance, coaching, and technical mentorship to early-career actuaries, supporting their development and growth within the actuarial function. About You Strong technical and analytical skills. Solid knowledge of GGY AXIS software (or comparable actuarial modeling system) is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Advanced Excel. Knowledge of other programs such as R, SQL, PowerBI is desired Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task. A self-starter who can work in an open, collaborative environment with a diverse team of financial professionals. Demonstrated ability to promote effective teamwork and accountability. Strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.
