THE ROLE As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paper hygiene products, we are continuously striving to innovate and improve, as such Sofidel UK are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to be based at our Papermill in Hamilton, Leciester. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and take pride in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and performance. You’ll play a key role in reducing downtime, improving machine performance, and supporting continuous improvement across the site. MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Provide first hand intervention when there is a mechanical breakdown and assist with troubleshooting of equipment problems Repair and perform preventive maintenance as per established standards and plans To check equipment and operating systems and correct wherever necessary To ensure mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at high quality Complete maintenance care obligations and render assistance in equipment repair as necessary To perform quality improvement and cost reduction and productivity as obligated To oversee mechanical devices while in operation and listen for complications using accurate testing and measuring instruments To take out inoperative parts by disassembling devices with the use specific tools Regulate downtime by enlightening production staff on standard preventive maintenance methods Maintain records and files if requested To participate in emergency on-call duty on a rotational basis and work all shifts flexibly when job demands Ensure a high level of housekeeping of the working area is maintained throughout the shift To ensure health & safety rules are adhered to REQUIREMENTS Proven hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment Recognised apprenticeship or degree within the field of : mechanical engineering/electrical engineering/engineering FMCG experience WORKING HOURS 42 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 07:00-16:00 PACKAGE / BENEFITS £20.84 per hour 21 days annual leave + Banks Holidays Life Assurance Scheme** Salary Sacrafice Pension Private Healthcare ** Attendance bonus* Discounted Staff shop Free car parking *Subject to a full years completion January - December **Subject to completion of probation WHAT WE OFFER A full-time employment The chance to work in an international Group and a concrete opportunity for professional growth A dynamic environment based on teamwork Sofidel Language Learning Programme through innovative digital platform
