Oracle Cloud Infrastructure builds and operates large-scale cloud services in a distributed, multi-tenant environment. The SPLAT team owns critical platform services that provide secure API routing, service registration, traffic management, private connectivity, authentication, and operational controls for OCI services. SPLAT sits in the request path for more than 300 OCI control planes and processes hundreds of billions of API requests each month. Our engineering work spans high-throughput Java services, distributed systems, networking, security, observability, deployment automation, and production operations. We are looking for a Software Engineer 2 with strong programming fundamentals and an interest in backend and cloud-service development. You will contribute to existing services, write production code and tests, investigate defects, and learn how cloud services are deployed and operated. You do not need prior expertise in distributed-system architecture or system design. We expect you to take ownership of well-defined problems, ask questions, apply feedback, and develop increasing independence with support from experienced engineers.

Development and Delivery

• Implement well-defined features, bug fixes, and improvements in existing Java services. • Write correct, readable, maintainable code with appropriate automated tests. • Understand existing designs and translate implementation requirements into working software. • Follow changes through code review, testing, deployment, and validation. • Communicate progress and blockers clearly and seek guidance when needed. Debugging and Operations

• Investigate defects using code, logs, metrics, dashboards, and documentation. • Participate in routine ticket triage, deployment validation, and on-call support after appropriate training. • Improve tests, alarms, dashboards, runbooks, and diagnostic tools for the areas you support. • Automate repetitive development or operational tasks. • Follow established security, reliability, and change-management practices. Collaboration and Growth

• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback into your work. • Work with engineers and partner teams to understand requirements and resolve integration issues. • Document implementation details and operational procedures. • Build knowledge of Java services, cloud infrastructure, production operations, and SPLAT’s platform. • Take on increasingly complex assignments as your technical judgment and independence grow. • Use modern development and AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve quality and productivity. Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. • Programming experience in Java or another object-oriented language. • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and basic software-testing practices. • Familiarity with Linux, source control, and collaborative software development. • Ability to debug software using available evidence and communicate technical information clearly. Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing backend applications or REST APIs. • Experience writing unit or integration tests. • Familiarity with HTTP, databases, or asynchronous programming. • Exposure to cloud services, containers, CI/CD, or deployment pipelines. • Experience using logs, metrics, or debugging tools to investigate software problems. US: Hiring Range in USD from: $70,000 to $166,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
