Moorfields Eye Hospital invites applications for the post of Deputy Team Leader based at Moorfields Outpatient Clinic in Croydon University Hospital and its supporting sites in Purley. This post will also require some travel to Moorfields Eye Hospital in City Road, London for training purposes.The post holder will be responsible for managing a professional, comprehensive and efficient administration service for the Moorfields Croydon Directorate and to ensure that an efficient and caring service is provided to all patients within our services. The role will require direct line management of the Clinic Coordinator Team to ensure that a high-quality administrative service is provided to our patients.Previous NHS experience is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and a strong communicator who is able to adapt quickly to new challenges. We are passionate about delivering an excellent service to patients and you will play a crucial role in ensuring that this is achieved.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Team Leader is one of the key management roles within the Outpatients team who along with the Team Leader, Clinic Manager and Assistant Divisional Manger will help ensure the Trusts goals are achieved. The Croydon Outpatients clinic is a very busy work environment with a high demand on capacity; this role is key to ensuring the demands of the clinical team, the admin team and our patients are met consistently.You must have good interpersonal skills, a polite and courteous manner, and a professional attitude. You must have effective verbal and written communication skills and will enjoy leading and working within a team.You must be able to cope under pressure in a busy working environment. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, as are strong I.T skills, although training will be provided on all in-house systems.

Working alongside the Team Leader, to ensure that an efficient and caring service is provided to all patients within the relevant sub-specialty clinics and services you are responsible for. The post holder will assist the Team Leader in directly managing the outpatient clinic coordinators allocated to their sub-specialties. To deputise for the Team Leader to ensure service continuity when they are absent. To provide a professional, comprehensive and efficient reception and administration service to the Trusts outpatient clinics. To promote a positive image of the Trusts outpatient services through the provision of excellent customer service to patients, relatives/carers and external stakeholders, demonstrating a commitment to putting patients first. To be responsible for ensuring high standards of data entry and quality are achieved and sustained across all services, in both paper and electronic record-keeping. To ensure adherence to the Trusts Access Policy at all times. Book all transport and interpreting services, ensuring that any specific requirements are communicated in a timely manner.

Education & Qualifications Essential
NVQ Level 4 in Administration / Customer service or demonstrable equivalent level of knowledge and experience Good general education including English and maths to GCSE A-C or equivalent Evidence of continuing education and development
Knowledge and Experience Essential
Experience of working in a busy and demanding customer/patient-facing role Experience of managing/supervising a team and effective staff management Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team Knowledge of NHS outpatient targets

Experience of working in the NHS Knowledge of MEH Patient Administration System (PAS) and OpenEyes
