Position Summary
Zoom Air, Inc. is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented, and dependable Welder to support fabrication and equipment operations. This role includes welding, fitting, fabricating, repairing, and modifying metal components and assemblies for HVAC rental equipment, piping systems, structural supports, skids, and related projects.
The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, able to read drawings and measurements accurately, and comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform MIG, and Stick welding as required for fabrication and repair work.
• Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials as assigned.
• Fabricate metal components from drawings, sketches, measurements, and verbal instructions.
• Measure, cut, fit, tack, and weld materials to required specifications.
• Use saws, grinders, drills, plasma cutters, torches, and other fabrication equipment safely.
• Inspect completed welds and fabricated assemblies for quality, accuracy, and proper fit.
• Repair and modify HVAC rental equipment, piping assemblies, skids, frames, supports, and related components.
• Assist with the fabrication of custom piping and equipment assemblies.
• Maintain accurate dimensions, tolerances, and alignment throughout the fabrication process.
• Perform grinding, cleaning, preparation, and finishing of welded components.
• Assist with material handling, equipment loading, and general shop duties as needed.
• Maintain welding machines, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow company safety policies, procedures, and required PPE standards.
• Report damaged tools, unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, or material shortages to a supervisor.
• Work cooperatively with Fabrication, Shop, Rental, and Field personnel to complete projects on schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Previous welding and metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Experience with MIG, and/or Stick welding.
• Ability to read a tape measure and accurately perform basic shop math.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, sketches, and specifications.
• Knowledge of welding procedures, joint preparation, fit-up, and fabrication techniques.
• Experience working with carbon steel and stainless steel preferred.
• Ability to use grinders, saws, torches, plasma cutters, drills, and other fabrication tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Dependable attendance and ability to meet production schedules.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach, and work in various positions.
• Frequently lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment.
• Safely lift up to 50 pounds independently, with assistance or mechanical equipment used for heavier loads.
• Work around heat, sparks, welding fumes, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
• Wear required personal protective equipment, including welding hood, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, and other PPE as required.
Work Environment
This position is primarily performed in a fabrication and shop environment. Employees may occasionally be required to perform work outdoors or at customer/jobsite locations. Work may involve exposure to varying temperatures, welding fumes, sparks, noise, dust, and industrial equipment.
