About this role
As a Carrier Account Manager, you'll be focused on procuring and developing relationships with new and existing carriers. Your role will provide vast exposure to the logistics industry, account management, and sales while also strengthening your ability to conduct business over the phone. You’ll be heavily involved in quoting transportation costs, negotiating pricing in a high-intensity brokerage environment, and creating solutions for a wide range of logistical challenges.

WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE
• Hybrid with at least 2 days per week in WayFinder’s Chicago River North office
• Full-Time / Schedule established with VP of Carrier Procurement
• Preference will be given to candidates available to work Saturdays
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Own all carrier-facing communications, independently managing relationships with truck drivers, trucking company owners, and dispatchers with confidence and professionalism
• Command carrier price negotiations, leveraging real-time market trends to secure the best rates and ensure company profit
• Drive revenue growth through proactive carrier account management, consistently identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities
• Independently vet, select, and onboard new carriers from start to finish, including contract execution and ongoing management and carrier development
• Maintain precise carrier pricing and capacity documentation, keeping the team equipped with accurate, actionable information
• Serve as the go-to escalation point for all carrier issues, resolving conflicts swiftly and decisively to keep operations moving
• Own all DAT posting and un-posting of assigned shipments, utilizing alternate posting strategies to maximize coverage and efficiency
• Continuously evaluate shifting business priorities and deadlines, adapting and executing without the need for immediate supervision
• Bring forward ideas that shape process improvement and contribute directly to company growth
• Perform other duties as assigned by management in support of company goals and operational needs
SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Strong communications skills with a positive and engaging personality
• Ability to work full time, Monday through Friday, with minimal after-hours responsibility
• Excellent verbal and social interaction skill sets
• Positive attitude and ability to self-motivate and self-manage
• Knowledge of freight brokerage, transportation modes, and competitive rates and service requirements
• Ability to evaluate current market conditions and rates for truckload and LTL in real time
• Ability to learn major shipping corridors and carrier rates along these lanes
• Experience with TMS, load board, onboarding & compliance, and rate tool software
• Well organized and ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and excel in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
• Comprehension of analytical reports to better familiarize with trends, markets, etc.
• Ability to work independently, as well as, within a team setting
• Proficiency within Microsoft Office productivity suite and TMS platforms
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Experience specifically at a freight brokerage (3PL) preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in business-related field preferred
• A blend of education and work experience may be considered
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
$60-62k + generous commission
