About the role
We are looking for an Accounts Administrator superstar to join our National Finance team.
The Accounts Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the financial performance and operational efficiency of the firm through the delivery of high-quality accounts administration and credit control services. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the accurate management of financial transactions, the timely collection of outstanding client accounts, and the maintenance of strong client relationships while safeguarding the firm's financial interests.
This role is responsible for driving effective debtor management, supporting cash flow objectives, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing responsive support to both clients and legal professionals. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, sound financial acumen, and the ability to communicate confidently and professionally in a fast-paced environment.
Key accountabilities:
• Prepare, review, and issue invoices, statements, and account summaries in a timely and accurate manner.
• Process receipts, payments, and account adjustments efficiently while ensuring compliance with firm procedures.
• Allocate client payments and reconcile debtor accounts to maintain accurate account balances.
• Conduct proactive credit control activities, including monitoring outstanding accounts and following up overdue payments to support cash flow and minimise aged debt.
• Perform daily banking functions and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
• Support the wider finance function through general accounts administration and continuous process improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will have:
• Proven experience in accounts administration, accounts receivable, credit control, or a similar finance-related role.
• Experience in a legal, accounting, consulting or other partnership-based professional services firm strongly preferred.
• Understanding of legal billing processes and trust accounting requirements.
• Knowledge of New Zealand credit management, collections, and debt recovery practices.
• Strong understanding of debtor management, collections processes, and cash flow principles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence positive payment outcomes.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and accountability.
• Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
