SPECIAL ASSISTANT UNITED STATES ATTORNEY (SAUSA) - LIMITED TERM GRANT FUNDED POSITION
The Office of the State’s Attorney is currently seeking highly qualified applicant to fill one (1) grant vacancy of a Full-time Paralegal.
JOB DUTIES:
The Paralegal will work with Assistant State’s Attorneys to perform a full range of legal support activities. The ideal candidate will have the ability to pay strong attention to detail; have strong criminal legal research and writing skills; as well as strong organizational skills.
Typical duties include:
• Assist with the preparation and filing of motions, notices, memoranda, pleadings and other related legal documents.
• Gathers information from and updates information in judicial/criminal databases and tracking systems.
• Conducts research and analyzes data such as statutes, decisions legal articles and codes. Prepares documents from gathered information to be used at all stages of prosecution.
• Assists in obtaining information from law enforcement or other parties for use in preparing cases before trial.
• Runs preliminary record and history checks on identified individuals.
• Regularly communicates with defense attorneys, law enforcement, victims and witnesses related to the cases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR CANDIDATES:
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; High school or equivalent; Microsoft Office; Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to deal tactfully, courteously, and effectively with people; Uses diplomacy and discretion in performing assigned Office duties.
BENEFITS: This Limited Term Grant Funded (LTGF) is eligible to participate in the County’s health care plan.
