How you'll Get to contribute:

We are seeking a Process Safety Coordinator/Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) Coordinator to support a major capital project within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for leading and managing the Pre-Startup Safety Review process for new, modified, or heavily maintained equipment and systems, ensuring all safety, engineering, operational, and regulatory requirements are satisfied before startup. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong process safety knowledge who can effectively bridge Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and EHS teams to support safe and successful project execution.

What You'll Do:

As the PSSR Coordinator, you will:

• Lead, schedule, and facilitate multidisciplinary PSSR reviews involving Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Commissioning, and EHS stakeholders.

• Coordinate pre-startup readiness activities to ensure systems are safe and prepared for startup and operational use.

• Verify field installations align with approved engineering designs, project specifications, and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.

• Ensure applicable regulatory, safety, and company standards are satisfied prior to equipment startup.

• Review and validate critical project documentation, including:

• Operating procedures

• Standard operating procedures (SOPs)

• Emergency response plans

• Training records

• Startup readiness documentation

• Engineering and commissioning records

• Track, prioritize, and drive closure of action items identified during PSSR reviews.

• Ensure all critical startup findings and safety-related deficiencies are resolved prior to startup authorization.

• Support commissioning and startup teams by reviewing final readiness checklists and providing safety approval recommendations.

• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, EHS, and Project Management teams throughout project execution.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by evaluating startup performance and enhancing PSSR processes, tools, templates, and workflows.

Who you are:

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related technical discipline.

• 1-3 years of relevant experience within a life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.

• Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), and startup readiness processes.

• Experience facilitating cross-functional reviews and coordinating multiple stakeholders.

• Familiarity with industrial risk assessment methodologies such as HAZOP and What-If analyses.

• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or similar professional certification.

• Experience supporting capital projects, commissioning, qualification, and startup activities.

• Prior experience managing plant-wide turnover, shutdown, turnaround, or outage (TAR) programs.

• Experience working in GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
