About this role
ICBL is Barbados’ largest general insurance provider, writing business in all areas of general insurance including, Property, Liability, Accident, Motor, Marine, Aviation and Transit Insurance. ICBL also offers insurance coverage for Individual and Group Life, Individual and Group Health, Annuities and Individual and Group Pensions.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the permanent position of Customer Support Associate in the Insurance Operations Business Unit. This position is at the level of Grade 7 in the Company’s compensation structure and will report to the Underwriting Manager - Property & Casualty or her designate.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
• Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization to customers via the assigned channels.
• Assists with customer queries received via branch, email, phone or chat, relating to issues including registration, making payments and renewal, inter alia.
• Addresses referrals from the portal and changes requested by customers made via the portal, chat or other customer channels.
• Completes quotations and converts quotations to new business for customers unable to complete online.
• Assists with achieving new business and retention revenue targets through various business strategies including cross/up -selling to existing customers.
• Ensures new and existing customer information and relevant documentation is continuously up to date in all applicable systems.
• Completes Mid-Term Adjustments (MTAs), credit agreements and certificates and other documentation as required by customers.
• Assists customers with online platforms accordingly (easyClaims, SurePay, Online Banking) and promotes the Company’s online and digital processes, including Online portal payments, to enhance efficiencies, thereby making it easier to do business with the Company.
• Ensures compliance with ICBL Underwriting Guidelines, Compliance and Financial Services Commission (FSC) Regulatory requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned and necessary for the advancement of the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
• Six (6) CXC General or ‘O’ Level certificates including Mathematics and English.
• Must be computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• A minimum of one (1) year’s experience in the general insurance industry would be an asset.
• Must have sound organizing and planning skills and ability to deal with customers in a professional yet pleasant manner.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills that demonstrate professionalism.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work autonomously.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
