About this role
Bridgecross LLC is seeking a System Analyst I to support a federal customer within the NOAA Marine Chart Division (MCD). This role provides GIS data analysis, quality control, web maintenance, and software support for mission‑critical nautical charting systems. The analyst contributes to daily ENC production, supports NOAA’s charting websites, and assists developers and cartographers in maintaining high‑quality geospatial products used for safe marine navigation across U.S. waters.

Key Responsibilities
• Determine functional requirements for GIS tasks and analyze technical data sources.
• Perform quality control checks for correctness, completeness, and adherence to NOAA standards.
• Conduct spatial analysis and produce map outputs supporting charting workflows.
• Support daily Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) updates and online publishing.
• Maintain and update production websites for historical and current ENC data.
• Provide coding, testing, and implementation support for:
• NOAA Custom Chart
• Marine Navigation websites
• Nautical Chart Manual
• Perform bug fixes, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance of software code.
• Support database design and maintenance in cloud environments.
• Assist cartographers with ArcGIS Pro issues affecting production.
• Ensure documentation and program standards are followed.
• Monitor progress and support schedule adherence for assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
• 1–2 years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Experience with spatial analysis, GIS data processing, and map production.
• Basic scripting experience (Python, SQL, or similar).
• Understanding of database design, especially in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with image encoding formats (GeoTIFF, PNG, SVG).
• Strong attention to detail and quality assurance.
• Ability to work independently and within a distributed technical team.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting federal or NOAA geospatial systems.
• Experience with ENC production or maritime geospatial workflows.
• Experience maintaining GIS‑related websites.
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro and enterprise geodatabases.
Work Environment
Work may be performed remotely or at the NOAA facility in Silver Spring, MD, depending on customer requirements. Use of Government‑furnished equipment and compliance with DOC/NOAA cybersecurity policies is required. Candidates must be able to undergo a federal background check and obtain Public Trust suitability.
