About this role

About us

The UCL Centre for Advanced Research Computing (ARC) is UCL’s new institute for infrastructure and innovation in digital research - the supercomputers, datasets, software and people that make computational science and digital scholarship possible.

We are a home for the research technology professionals - research software engineers, HPC systems engineers, dev-ops specialists, data engineers, data scientists and data stewards - who support and collaborate in the delivery of UCL research.

About the role

Our Research Data Stewards provide data-focused support and consultancy to researchers at UCL, helping researchers to improve their data management, align with university and funder policies, and enable Open Science and FAIR data. Research Data Stewards also perform independent research into the practice of data and compute intensive research methods.

They will spend much of their time embedded within research projects but also contribute to new research proposals and collaborate on research data service design, feeding in researcher requirements to ensure that the suite of research support services offered by UCL remains relevant and effective.

About you

As a Research Data Steward, you’ll bring knowledge of conducting or supporting data intensive‑research. You will be committed to producing reliable, sustainable and trustworthy research data and will have experience analysing and solving complex problems.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys communicating about research data online and in-person and who can help colleagues understand specialised or technical concepts, regardless of background or level of technical expertise. You enjoy working in dynamic research environments and are enthusiastic about rapidly acquiring knowledge of new technologies and fields.

This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 20% on site.

Further information about working in ARC can be found on our website www.ucl.ac.uk/arc
