About the job:

Queen's Business School (QBS) at Queen’s University Belfast is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Lecturer in Actuarial Science or Finance. The postholder will contribute to the design, development and delivery of Actuarial Science modules and programmes, together with the development of teaching and learning strategies relevant to Actuarial Science and its related disciplines. Applicants may be considered for a pathway as either a Lecturer (Practice), or Lecturer (Research and Education). Staff on the Practice pathway will engage in scholarly activity and industry engagement as appropriate to Actuarial Science. Staff on the Research and Education pathway will pursue academic research and teaching in Actuarial Science or Finance.

About the person:

Successful candidates’ application for Lecturer (Practice) should clearly demonstrate:

Completion (or close to completion) of professional Actuarial qualifications, such as being a Fellow or Associate of the IFoA, or a holder of equivalent recognised Actuarial qualifications. Relevant professional industry experience. Evidence of the ability and willingness to teach at university level including design of new and innovative modules/pathways or assessment methods in Actuarial Science and related fields. Demonstrable ability to advance the teaching and industry engagement goals of QBS.

Successful candidates’ application for Lecturer (Research and Education) should clearly demonstrate:

A completed PhD (or very close to completion) in Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related discipline. An established programme of research activity and dissemination of original, high-quality Actuarial Science or Finance research in line with accepted norms for Lecturer. A developing track record of high-quality peer reviewed Actuarial Science or Finance publications as appropriate to norms for Lecturer. Evidence of the ability and willingness to teach at university level including design of new and innovative modules/pathways or assessment methods in Actuarial Science and related fields. Demonstrable ability to advance the teaching and research goals of QBS.
