Position Title: Principal Engineer – Mechanical Design for Oil & Gas Job Summary: The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for leading the mechanical design, engineering, and development of equipment, packages, and systems used in the Oil & Gas industry. The role involves providing technical leadership, ensuring compliance with international standards, overseeing design reviews, supporting project execution, and mentoring engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle from concept through commissioning. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership · Lead mechanical design activities for Oil & Gas projects, including upstream, midstream, and downstream facilities. · Provide subject matter expertise for static and rotating equipment, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, skids, and packaged equipment. · Develop engineering solutions that optimize safety, reliability, operability, and cost. · Review and approve engineering calculations, design reports, specifications, and drawings. Design & Engineering: Perform and oversee detailed mechanical design in accordance with, v Engineering Work Order - Piping maintenance. or MOC: · ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM, ISO, NACE, PED (where applicable) · Review equipment layouts, 3D models, piping arrangements, and structural interfaces. · Ensure designs meet process, safety, environmental, and client requirements. · Conduct engineering analyses including: o Evaluate or develop pipe routing and layout o Develop and/or validate pipe support scheme o Material selection (Develop MTOs) o Determine Pipe fabrication procedures (WPS, PWHT, etc.) o Generate construction work order task instructions o Generate work order task instructions o Develop equipment closure parameters v Engineering Work Order - Fixed Equipment maint. · Develop repair plan · Determine repair/fabrication procedures (WPS, PWHT, etc.) including test requirements · Develop equipment closure parameters v Stress & Fatigue analysis Coordinate with Process, Piping, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Procurement teams. Support project planning and engineering schedules. Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, SIL, constructability reviews, and risk assessments. Manage technical queries and client communications. Experience: § 20+ years of mechanical design experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, LNG, or Energy sectors. § Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects. § Experience with EPC, OEM, or Engineering Consultancy organizations preferred. Soft Skills: · Good Communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with customers closely. Qualification and Professional Experience: § Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory). § Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Preferred).
