Job Title: DispatcherJob DescriptionThe Dispatcher oversees end-to-end transportation move management, from initial assignment through final delivery. This role focuses on coordinating carrier capacity, monitoring shipment status, resolving delivery issues, and proactively communicating updates to internal teams and customers. • Coordinate and manage shipments from assignment through final delivery, ensuring all moves progress smoothly and on schedule. • Monitor and maintain load boards to secure timely coverage for all shipments. • Source and secure carrier capacity within established rate guidelines while supporting profitability goals. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment status information within the transportation management system (TMS). • Monitor pickups and deliveries to ensure performance standards and service expectations are consistently met. • Identify potential shipment delays and service risks proactively and take action to mitigate them. • Resolve transportation exceptions and operational issues in a timely and professional manner. • Escalate unresolved concerns with clear documentation of actions taken and recommended next steps. • Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers and transportation providers, handling day-to-day communication and support. • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with carriers to support reliable capacity and long-term partnerships. • Provide proactive shipment updates and exception notifications to internal stakeholders and customers. • Partner closely with account management and operations teams to align service delivery with customer expectations. • Troubleshoot service issues and coordinate resolutions that balance carrier needs, customer requirements, and profitability. • Deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a professional and collaborative demeanor. • Monitor profitability on assigned shipments and support decisions that maintain or improve margin. • Document carrier rejections and capacity issues to support continuous improvement and future planning. • Support operational reporting and ensure data accuracy within transportation systems and tools. • Assist with tracking transportation performance and contributing to performance metrics and reporting. Essential Skills
• Minimum 1 year of experience in logistics, transportation, dispatch, brokerage, or supply chain, OR 2–5 years of higher-level customer service or call center experience in industries such as automotive or logistics. • Experience in trucking, transportation, 3PL, brokerage, or fleet operations is highly preferred. • Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including sorting and filtering large data sets, using basic formulas, creating pivot tables, and generating reports. • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word for professional communication and documentation. • Ability to learn and effectively use transportation management systems (TMS). • Understanding of transportation operations and workflows. • Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations is preferred. • Experience with ELD/eLog systems is a plus. • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a customer service mindset. • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with carriers and internal teams. • High level of organization and attention to detail in managing multiple shipments and tasks. • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. • Strong problem-solving skills and sound decision-making abilities. • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. • Sense of urgency and ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. • High energy and professional demeanor suitable for frequent interaction with carriers and internal stakeholders. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Exposure to trucking, transportation, 3PL, brokerage, or fleet operations. • Experience in call center or higher-level customer service roles within automotive, logistics, or similar industries. • Customer service, dispatch, and track-and-trace experience. • Data entry skills and familiarity with dispatching workflows. • Ability to support operational reporting and performance tracking. • Professional, collaborative approach to working with operations and account management teams. • Interest in developing logistics expertise and leadership skills. • Motivation to pursue a clear career path into roles such as Site Manager or Operations Manager. Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a fast-paced, team-oriented transportation operations environment with significant interaction with carriers, operations, and account management teams. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a rotating shift from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and one weekend per month on a rotating basis. Schedules are published in advance to support work-life planning. The environment emphasizes collaboration, professional communication, and a strong sense of urgency, offering exposure to transportation operations, carrier management, and logistics systems while providing a clear growth path into leadership positions. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Plymouth, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $55000.00/yr.
