Job Requirements Participating in a Certified Nursing Assistant program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON), this is a training role working under the direction of professional nursing staff to provide direct patient care. Practices clinical skills to gain experience in acute care/hospital setting under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Primary Responsibilities The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed. · Provides individualized care to meet the needs of the patient. · Performs and/or assist the patient with personal grooming and hygiene, including CHG bath or soap/water complete bath. · Performs and/or assists patients with eating and drinking and educates patients on the importance of food and basic nutrition and nutrition’s role in health and illness. · Identifies and applies basic observational recording and reporting skills. · Obtains intake and output data for a variety of patients and records/reports results. · Utilizes and documents patient care in the electronic health system. · Uses proper infection control techniques. · Positions the patient with ambulation. Performs range of motion exercises. · Understands activities of daily living (ADLs). Assist patients with toileting. · Performs selected treatments including mental health on a variety of patients as directed and/or supervised. · Prepares patients for surgery and cares for them afterwards. · Perform all other duties as assigned.
Work Experience · High school diploma or equivalent required or currently enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant program with the ability to receive high school diploma or equivalent within one year of hire. Enrollment in the Certified Nursing Assistant program must be maintained until high school diploma or equivalent is acquired. · Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. · Must be participating in Certified Nursing Assistant program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON).
