About this role

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer (Continuous Improvement / Lean Operations)Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support a rapidly growing manufacturing operation. This individual will focus on improving productivity, reducing waste, optimizing process flow, and increasing operational efficiency within a cleanroom assembly environment. The ideal candidate will have experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles within a high-mix, low-volume production setting. This is an onsite contract opportunity expected to last at least six months, with potential for extension based on business needs. Responsibilities • Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and throughput. • Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity assessments to support operational improvements. • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and eliminate bottlenecks. • Perform value stream mapping, spaghetti diagram analysis, and other process improvement activities. • Collect, analyze, and present manufacturing data to support decision making and drive measurable results. • Develop and implement standardized work instructions and process controls. • Partner with production, quality, and operations teams to improve process flow and operator utilization. • Support resource allocation and staffing strategies within a variable production environment. • Evaluate value-added versus non-value-added activities and implement corrective actions. • Identify opportunities to scale process improvements across similar products and manufacturing processes. • Review and interpret manufacturing and mechanical drawings to support process development and optimization. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, efficiency gains, and operational excellence. • Routinely work within a Class 7 cleanroom environment to observe processes and collaborate with manufacturing personnel. Essential Skills • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline. • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, process, sustaining, or continuous improvement engineering. • Experience conducting process improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment. • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools. • Experience performing time studies, process mapping, and workflow optimization. • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to convert findings into actionable improvements. • Experience collecting and analyzing production metrics and operational data. • Ability to read and interpret engineering, manufacturing, or mechanical drawings. • Comfortable working onsite and spending time on the manufacturing floor. • Ability to work a schedule that overlaps with both first and second shift operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Medical device manufacturing experience. • Cleanroom manufacturing experience. • Experience working in Class 7 or similar controlled environments. • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement training. • Experience with statistical analysis software and process capability evaluations. • Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume manufacturing operations. • Design of Experiments (DOE) exposure. Work EnvironmentThis position requires 100% onsite work within a Class 7 cleanroom environment. The schedule will support collaboration with both day and second shift production teams, typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The work environment is fast-paced, supporting growth, new product introductions, and operational scaling. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Camarillo, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $75.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
