About this role

Job Title: Test EngineerJob DescriptionThis Test Engineer role focuses on planning, executing, and documenting tests for automotive components and systems, with an emphasis on 12-volt battery-related applications. You will apply engineering principles to develop and perform test procedures that confirm design feasibility, validate performance against acceptance criteria, and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards. The position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with test equipment, analyze complex test data, and influence product design through clear reporting and recommendations. Responsibilities • Develop detailed test plans and procedures for automotive parts and components, with a focus on 12-volt battery-related systems, to evaluate design feasibility and performance. • Apply engineering principles and prior test engineering experience to define appropriate test methods, acceptance criteria, and performance targets for assigned components. • Create test specifications, standards, and schedules to ensure tests are executed efficiently and in alignment with project timelines and quality requirements. • Set up, configure, and verify test equipment and software tools required to conduct moderately complex tests in your area of specialty. • Conduct tests according to established procedures, ensuring accurate data collection, adherence to safety and quality standards, and thorough documentation of all activities. • Generate and manage test data settings, ensuring that measurement parameters, thresholds, and configurations support reliable and repeatable results. • Analyze and interpret test results to assess component performance, identify trends, and predict potential failure modes or performance limitations. • Summarize test outcomes in clear written reports, including conclusions, data interpretations, and supporting evidence for design validation decisions. • Prepare and deliver formal presentations of test findings to engineering and project stakeholders, clearly communicating issues, risks, and recommendations. • Identify issues uncovered during testing, develop appropriate countermeasures, and collaborate with design and engineering teams to propose design changes. • Verify the accuracy and thoroughness of completed tests, determine whether additional testing is required, and refine test plans based on findings. • Ensure that all testing activities align with applicable internal standards and any relevant automotive regulatory requirements. Essential Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree. • 1–3 years of test engineering experience, including hands-on involvement in test planning, execution, and confirmation within a defined area of specialty. • Experience with test equipment used to evaluate electrical and electronic components, particularly in automotive applications. • Proficiency in software-based testing and the use of software tools to configure, monitor, and record test data. • Demonstrated ability to develop and follow test plans, test procedures, and test schedules for moderately complex systems. • Strong analytical skills to interpret test data, predict performance and failure modes, and draw accurate conclusions. • Ability to clearly document test results and write structured technical reports that summarize methods, findings, and recommendations. • Experience communicating technical test results through formal presentations to engineering and project teams. • Knowledge of automotive qualification requirements and standards for components and systems. • Hands-on experience working with 12-volt battery systems or related automotive electrical systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Background in automotive engineering or experience testing automotive components and systems. • Familiarity with internal and external regulatory standards applicable to automotive testing and qualification. • Experience identifying issues during testing and developing practical countermeasures or design improvement recommendations. • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams to refine designs based on test outcomes. • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to ensuring test accuracy, completeness, and repeatability. Work EnvironmentThe Test Engineer works in a technical environment focused on automotive component and system testing, with a particular emphasis on 12-volt battery-related applications. The role involves regular use of electrical and electronic test equipment, software-based testing tools, and data acquisition systems to conduct and monitor moderately complex tests. You will spend time both at test benches and in lab or test facility settings, preparing equipment, executing test procedures, and reviewing data. The position typically follows standard full-time working hours, with flexibility as needed to support test schedules and project deadlines. The work environment values precision, safety, and collaboration, encouraging clear communication of test results and active participation in improving product designs through data-driven insights.
