Job Title: Medical AssistantJob DescriptionThe Medical Assistant provides compassionate, efficient support to patients and clinical staff in a busy outpatient clinic. This role focuses on patient follow-up, accurate data entry, and coordination of clinical activities such as lab ordering, scheduling, and communication of results. The Medical Assistant serves as a key point of contact for patients, ensuring they receive timely information and a positive experience during every interaction.Responsibilities

• Perform patient follow-ups, including calling patients, documenting outcomes, and updating records to ensure continuity of care. • Enter patient updates and clinical information accurately into the electronic medical record (EMR), specifically using Athena. • Answer inbound phone calls in a professional and courteous manner, triage inquiries, and route calls to appropriate clinical or administrative staff. • Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits, ensuring accurate and efficient appointment scheduling within the EMR. • Order laboratory tests as directed by providers, verify orders, and ensure proper documentation in the patient record. • Relay lab results to patients and clinical staff in accordance with established protocols and documentation requirements. • Provide clinical support to providers and nurses, including basic patient care tasks within the scope of a medical assistant. • Maintain up-to-date and accurate electronic health records, ensuring compliance with clinic standards and healthcare regulations. • Use medical terminology correctly when documenting, communicating with patients, and coordinating with clinical teams. • Assist with front desk and customer service duties as needed, including greeting patients, verifying information, and supporting insurance-related processes. • Collaborate with healthcare team members to support a high-quality patient experience and smooth clinic operations. • Follow clinic policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, confidentiality, and a professional care environment. Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in medical assisting or a closely related clinical support role. • Medical assisting diploma or certification, or 1+ years of medical assistant experience (preferred but not strictly required). • High school diploma. • Hands-on experience working in a medical or healthcare setting, providing direct patient care or clinical support. • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically Athena. • Strong understanding and use of medical terminology in a clinical environment. • Experience with electronic health records and medical record documentation. • Ability to schedule appointments and follow-ups accurately and efficiently. • Skill in ordering labs and documenting orders and results within the EMR. • Experience answering and managing inbound phone calls in a healthcare or customer service environment. • Customer service skills with a focus on patient care and communication. • Basic knowledge of insurance-related processes in a medical office setting. • Ability to work onsite in a clinic environment Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or similar credential is a plus. • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred. • Experience in front desk operations within a medical clinic is beneficial. • Experience in healthcare or medical office customer service is advantageous. • Familiarity with appointment scheduling systems and EMR workflows. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with patients and clinical staff. • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting. Work EnvironmentThis role is based onsite at a clinic and involves working closely with providers, nurses, and administrative staff in a patient-focused environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing a consistent daytime workweek. The clinic uses electronic medical records, including Athena, and relies on phones and computer-based systems for appointment scheduling, lab ordering, and patient communication. The environment is professional and fast-paced, with frequent patient interaction and a strong emphasis on teamwork and high-quality care. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bradenton, FL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
