Job Title: Field Service TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial automation equipment at customer sites across North America. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys travel, solving technical challenges, and working directly with customers to keep production equipment running efficiently. The Service Technician will diagnose and resolve controls, electrical, and mechanical issues, assist with equipment startups, and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities • Travel to customer facilities to install, commission, troubleshoot, and service automated equipment and systems. • Diagnose and resolve PLC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues. • Modify and troubleshoot PLC programs, with a strong preference for Allen-Bradley platforms. • Assist customers with equipment performance, operational issues, and technical support requests. • Support equipment startups, testing, and validation activities. • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation. • Coordinate with engineering and project teams to resolve field issues. • Prepare service reports and communicate recommendations to customers and internal teams. • Assist with after-hours support as needed. • Maintain professional customer relationships while representing the organization in the field. Essential Skills • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 2-3 years of industrial automation experience, OR 4-5 years of relevant industrial automation experience without a degree. • Strong PLC troubleshooting and program editing experience, preferably with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation systems. • Ability and willingness to travel 50-60% of the time. • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. • Excellent communication and customer service abilities. • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout North America. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with FactoryTalk PanelView HMIs and/or Ignition SCADA platforms. • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. • Experience commissioning automated manufacturing equipment. • Familiarity with industrial networking and field devices. Work EnvironmentThe work environment includes traveling 50-60% of the time, primarily Monday through Friday, with weekends at home. Typical travel assignments last 1 week, with larger projects occasionally requiring 3-4 consecutive weeks onsite. All travel expenses are covered, including airfare, mileage, hotels, and meals, with a company-issued credit card provided for travel expenses. Employees retain all personal travel rewards and loyalty points earned during business travel. Additional travel compensation is provided at $130 per day, consisting of a $55 daily per diem and a $75 daily travel bonus. The typical schedule includes 40 hours per week when working locally and 60-70 hours per week while traveling, with additional overtime opportunities available. Minimal international travel may occur, with trips to Canada 1-2 times per year, Mexico approximately every other year, and overseas destinations like Japan and Australia occasionally every 3-5 years. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belding, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
