Job Title: SuperintendentJob DescriptionThe Superintendent oversees all grading, excavation, underground utility, and site development operations on a large, multi-phase civil construction project. This role leads field crews, coordinates equipment and subcontractors, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. The Superintendent plays a key role in driving productivity, meeting production and schedule goals, and delivering high-quality site infrastructure for a landmark data center development. Responsibilities • Supervise all grading, excavation, underground utility, and site development operations from planning through completion. • Manage civil construction crews, equipment, subcontractors, and daily field activities to meet production and schedule targets. • Coordinate site layout, underground utility installation, testing, inspections, and project turnover requirements. • Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, and established quality standards. • Enforce and promote strict safety practices in accordance with OSHA standards and site-specific safety protocols. • Drive productivity and operational excellence across all civil construction activities, including earthwork and utility work. • Lead and mentor multiple crews, including foremen, operators, laborers, and subcontractors, in a fast-paced construction environment. • Plan and oversee heavy equipment operations, including excavators, dozers, motor graders, scrapers, loaders, and haul trucks. • Support site logistics and work area coordination, including haul routes, equipment movement, access control, laydown yards, and material staging. • Monitor progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives. • Foster effective communication across the job site to maintain awareness of surroundings and ensure safe, coordinated operations. Essential Skills • Minimum 5+ years of experience supervising civil construction, site development, or heavy civil infrastructure projects. • Proven experience managing grading, excavation, mass earthwork, and underground utility installations. • Experience coordinating heavy equipment operations, including excavators, dozers, motor graders, scrapers, loaders, and haul trucks. • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple crews, foremen, operators, laborers, and subcontractors in a fast-paced construction environment. • Proven track record of maintaining production schedules while achieving safety, quality, and budget objectives. • Strong supervisory and construction management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and execute field operations. • Solid understanding of civil construction and utility construction processes and best practices. • Ability to interpret and work from project plans, specifications, and quality standards. • Strong communication skills to coordinate activities, provide direction, and maintain awareness of site conditions. • Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA standards and site-specific safety protocols. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience leading large-scale civil operations, including complex earthwork, underground utilities, drainage systems, and site infrastructure. • Background in heavy civil projects that require high levels of coordination and execution. • Exposure to large, multi-phase developments that provide long-term project stability. • Interest in working within a cutting-edge construction environment supporting data center infrastructure. • Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and weather while maintaining productivity and safety. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to field challenges. Work EnvironmentThis role is based on a large civil construction site located on open farmland in Lebanon, Indiana, subject to a full range of weather conditions. Summers are typically hot and humid with a high chance of pop-up thunderstorms, while winters can bring cold rain, freezing rain, snow, wind, and extreme cold temperatures. The schedule generally consists of 11–12 hour days Monday through Friday and 9–10 hour days on Saturday, so candidates should expect extended work hours. The site operates under a high degree of safety protocols in accordance with OSHA standards, and there is significant ongoing activity with heavy equipment, haul routes, and multiple crews working simultaneously. Communication and constant awareness of surroundings are critical to success. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Lebanon, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
