Job Description: WHY CHOOSE US? Joining The American Red Cross is like nothing else – it’s as much something you feel as something you do. You become a vital part of the world’s largest humanitarian network. Joining a team of welcoming individuals who are exceptional, yet unassuming. Diverse, yet uncompromising in unity. You grow your career within a movement that matters, where success is measured in people helped, communities made whole, and individuals equipped to never stop changing lives and situations for the better. When you choose to be a force for good, you’ll have mentors who empower your growth along a purposeful career path. You align your life’s work with an ongoing mission that’s bigger than all of us. As you care for others, you’re cared for with competitive compensation and benefits. You join a community that respects who you are away from work as much as what you do while at work. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB: The Enterprise AI team at the American Red Cross is hiring an AI/ML Platform Operations Analyst to operate our Dataiku and Databricks environments. You will join a small senior team supporting a data science group of about ten. The work is a steady cadence of production analytics and ML pipelines serving humanitarian, biomedical, and training services operations. The job is an operations role that sits between data science and infrastructure. You move finished projects into production, keep pipelines healthy on both platforms, and bring operational judgment to a team that otherwise leans toward building things. Success in this role is driven by platform operations critical thinking, problem solving, AI/ML platform skills than by specialized expertise in deep learning, modeling, data science, gpu optimization, or k8s. The scope is contained and the pace is deliberate. If systems running quietly for years sounds like the point of the job to you, this is a good seat. The team is small and handles real stakes with a deliberate pace, inside a large organization. If you think you are a good fit, please apply.
The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States but must work an east coast schedule.
Active participation in virtual meetings, including regular camera use, is expected to support effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
When applying, please include the following responses to these questions in your resume or cover letter: • Briefly describe something you decided not to automate, and why. • Briefly name a platform or major tool you learned on the job. What forced the learning, and how long before it was useful?
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities): • Work with 10+ data scientists to move completed projects into production: packaging Python environments (venv first, then uv where the project allows), setting up monitoring and alerting, and watching for problems after release. • Own the promotion pre-flight checklist for each release and keep it honest: know when a task should stay manual, become a runbook, or become code. • Triage and fix pipeline failures. Work with upstream data owners when source systems, credentials, or schemas change. • Track incoming project demand so the team sees operational needs before they land. • Write runbooks and documentation that someone else can follow without you in the room. • Administer users, groups, code environments, and cluster policies in the platform consoles. • Support the team working on automation requirements and design reviews.
