About the Role Drive production excellence and shape the future of Mining at Alcoa's Huntly Operations as Production Manager.

Are you a strategic and influential leader with a well-established mining background, ready to drive exceptional production performance and contribute to the strategic direction of a world-leading organisation? Do you excel at fostering a safety-first culture, optimising operational efficiency, and building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, engaging with internal workforces and external regulatory bodies? If so, Alcoa's Huntly Mining Operations in Perth’s’ Southwest Dwellingup region offers a unique and impactful opportunity as our Production Manager.

Reporting directly to the Mine Manager and as a key member of the wider Huntly leadership team, you will provide critical strategic leadership in all aspects of production execution. You will be accountable for developing and directing programs that maximise equipment utilisation, enhance cost-effectiveness, and ultimately drive superior production performance and achieve outstanding results across our Huntly Mining operations. This role offers the exciting challenge of leading a large mining workforce towards optimum continuous production within a safe and healthy working environment, while contributing to the strategic direction of Alcoa's Western Australian mining operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting and achieving production objectives, overseeing all mining activities from clearing to rehabilitation, ensuring inter-departmental collaboration, and contributing to long-term strategic planning.

• Championing a zero-injury safety culture through visible leadership, ensuring safe work environments, and rigorously controlling environmental impact in accordance with regulations.

• Driving productivity improvements, setting cost and quality standards, controlling performance, and implementing necessary process changes to achieve optimal efficiency.

• Developing supervisory competence through coaching and training, fostering positive employee relations through clear standards, communication, and performance management, and effectively managing industrial relations.

• Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal stakeholders (Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Technical), regulatory bodies (Mines Department, DWERS, Water Corporation), and union representatives.

• Developing and delivering the department's business plan, making critical tactical decisions on operational execution, and leading the selection of optimal new equipment.

What you can bring to the role

• Significant previous senior leadership experience in bauxite and/or metalliferous mining operations, with insights into managing a unionised workforce beneficial.

• Strong technical understanding of mining practices with a proven track record of driving production improvements and achieving strategic objectives.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders, regulatory bodies, and community partners.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, processing, or science highly desired) and required certifications (SSE certification essential; surface mining diploma and quarry manager certification highly regarded).

• A strategic and forward-thinking approach, with experience in developing and implementing both short-term and long-term plans, and an interest in leveraging emerging technologies.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and working within established business processes.

About the Location Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
