Head of Financial Lines - IBERIA

Make your mark in Underwriting AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. About the role What you need to know:

• Develops/ monitors/ manages Financial Lines underwriting strategy in the Iberia region

• Manages and leads high performing Cyber/FI/MLC/PICom underwriting teams

• P&L Ownership. Budget and forecast oversight for Financial Lines Iberia in conjunction with Emea FL Head and GM

• Manages Iberia‘s FL day to day business in close collaboration with Head of Emea

• Ensures alignment amongst Financial Lines underwriting staff with Sales/Client engagement, Claims, Actuarial, Operations, Finance and other functions to achieve product and company goals

• Responsibility for a profitable growing portfolio that matches customer demand, including channel and go-to-market strategy

• Resource allocation in close co-operation with country GM and the EMEA and International Financial Lines functions

• Management of key broker and client relationships across the Iberia region

• Product Development. Leads building new and adapting existing products to explore and convert emerging business opportunities and evolving demand.

• Execute reinsurance strategy for Iberia in collaboration with European/International functions and engages with underwriters in the placement of facultative reinsurance

• FL representation in senior management committees such as Senior Leadership Team, Credit Forum, Risk Forum, Emea FLteam

• Proactive thought leader in areas such as conducting seminars, conferences as well as participating in media interviews

• Escalation and day to day point of contact for brokers and clients

• Technical Referral Point for UW

• Oversight of succession planning and performance management within FL Iberia

What we’re looking for: Leadership Skills

• Strategic and result oriented, managing vision and purpose, developing organizational capability

• Strong influencing and communications skills and ability to work across multiple areas of company and industries

• Change and team leadership

• External thought leadership

• Proven experience with multiple country oversight

• Successful management of business with comparative scale and complexity

Technical Skills and Expertise:

• Broad based, European insurance industry experience in multinational environments

• Experience of successfully managing operations with similar complexity and scale.

• Proven track record of delivering profitable growth in a sizable and relevant general insurance / financial lines products in European markets.

• Strong business acumen, with a proven track record of making sound judgment backed by strong analytical, quantitative, process and systems skills

• Knowledge of Iberia insurance market(s)

Core Competencies:

• Several years of insurance operational management experience

• Analytical and quantitative skills

• Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition, and distribution

• Process and system skills

• Fluency in Spanish and English. Portuguese knowledge will be considered a plus.

• Advanced knowledge of reinsurance and first party insurance
