About this role
What's it all about? The balance of power in the energy industry needs to change. The intermittency of renewable supply and the constant demands of the grid mean that we still rely on less efficient, more expensive and unsustainable fossil fuels to keep the lights on. At Gridfuse, our mission is to shift this balance through technology. To shift the balance of inputs, so that renewables become the world's main source of electricity.
At Gridfuse, we develop the software that controls real renewable energy assets and turns them into a coordinated Virtual Power Plant (VPP) that can respond intelligently to energy markets and grid conditions.
Your impactAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will build the systems that connects our platform to these assets and turn energy-market and grid requirements into real-world actions. Your code will influence when batteries charge or discharge, how renewable assets respond, and how reliably these assets can participate in the electricity system.
You will own and evolve core parts of the Control services, working closely with other software engineers and our renewable-energy experts.
The role
Design and build distributed control systems that coordinate fleets of batteries, wind turbines and solar plants Translate complex energy-market and grid requirements into reliable software behaviour Build the services responsible for communicating with physical assets and processing their telemetry, status and capabilities Design systems that continue to behave predictably when devices fail, networks are unreliable, messages arrive late or assets become temporarily unavailableBuild highly observable and resilient services that operate continuously in productionTake your services from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring and operation Work closely with energy-market specialists to understand the problem and turn it into pragmatic technical solutions Make architectural and technical decisions that balance reliability, scalability, simplicity and delivery speed Mentor other engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
What we need from you
